Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care SIG

The University of Queensland's Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (VECC) Special Interest Group (SIG) is dedicated to advancing knowledge in emergency medicine. It provides students with hands-on workshops and valuable networking opportunities with experienced emergency veterinarians currently practicing in the field.

We are lucky enough to be mentored by the wonderful Dr Mark Haworth and year after year we’ve had the delight of hosting a variety of guest lecturers and workshops both on and off campus. As a relatively new SIG we’re expanding each year and look forward to bringing new educational opportunities for students in ultrasonography, intoxications, wound management, life support and more.

FLUTD Cats Workshop

In collaboration with the Cat Clinic in Brisbane, this workshop and lecture combination aims to educate students on the FLUTD emergency condition. This common condition is a day 1 skill that practicing veterinarians will potentially be exposed to in an emergency setting.

What’s On for this year…

  • CPR Workshop

  • GDV Workshop
